What is Palliative Care?
It is an approach that aims to improve the quality of life and comfort for patients and their families facing the problems associated with a life-limiting or life-threatening illness. Palliative care can begin any time after diagnosis.
A team made up of the patient and family, physicians, nurses, home care, social worker, spiritual support, volunteers, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. The interdisciplinary team addresses physical, emotional, spiritual, practical and social concerns that arise with advanced illness for patients (and their family) of any age.
